Hypnotherapy
There are many uses for hypnotherapy, both as a complementary treatment and, in general, to support emotional well-being and habit-change. Hypnotherapy has long been used in relation to childbirth; sometimes during pregnancy to prepare a mother for birth, and during childbirth to reduce anxiety, discomfort and pain. Self-hypnosis may prove a valuable aid in supplementing medicated pain relief.
Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis as an aid in exploring the source of any issues or in increasing motivation and modifying habits. Your hypnotic or “trance” state may be deep or light – you will receive the suggestion to “go as deep as feels comfortable and as is needed to achieve your purpose today”. You will be able to remember the content of sessions if you wish to. You will be able to hear and respond. You will most likely feel relaxed and refreshed, even uplifted, after hypnotherapy.
In an initial consultation we can discuss your purpose in treatment and whether hypnotherapy is suitable for this purpose. Once this is determined, simple tests will help to determine your "susceptibility" and emotional readiness to accept hypnosis. Your induction into a hypnotic "trance" can then take place, using individualised methods and techniques based on the interpretation of any test results and reflecting your aims.
As treatment progresses, it is possible for you to receive training in the use of self-hypnosis and to be provided with a personalised CD for home use, which can help to maintain your focus and support your treatment between sessions.
