Reflexology

Based on the meridian theory developed by acupuncture and Chinese medicine, reflexology works on identified “reflex” points in the feet to encourage the body’s natural re-balancing ability. Specific points in the feet are related to various areas in the body, including organs and skeletal structures.  The experience of reflexology is unique to each person. Most will find the treatment immediately relaxing; many will also feel uplifted and energised. Whilst reflexology is much more than just a relaxing foot massage, the treatment uses pleasant massage techniques to warm, soothe and loosen-up the feet.

Reflexologists apply pressure to the reflex points using the thumbs and fingers to ease tension, improve circulation and elimination, and rebalance and address blockages to the flow of subtle energy within the system.  Rebalancing relates to emotional and psychological states, in addition to the physical.

My clients have found reflexology to be particularly useful in helping relaxation, digestive disorders and irregular menstrual cycle (hormonal factors).  This is a highly relaxing treatment and, as such, is a useful support in times of stress, or when it is most important to remain serene, whether you are giving up smoking, experiencing challenging times at work or managing pregnancy.
