When not to have massage
If the following conditions apply, I am unable to treat you for safety and insurance reasons:
- Fever, colds or flu
- Contagious or infectious diseases
- Under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- Pregnancy in the first three months
If any of the following apply, massage is possible if the area can be avoided:
- Undiagnosed lumps and bumps
- Varicose veins
- Pregnancy
- Bruising
- Cuts and abrasions
- Sunburn
- Undiagnosed pain
- Inflammation
- Non-infected skin diseases, e.g eczema (your own cream can be applied)
If the following conditions apply, Please check with your GP prior to booking, to save inconvenience. If your GP or consultant advises that it is safe to do so, then I will be able to treat you, although I may ask for your permission to write to them for medical guidance. This is to ensure your health and safety and maintain your insured status. Massage is usually possible, sometimes with important modifications.
- Pregnancy (usually possible after the first 3 months)
- Cardiovascular conditions
- Any condition already being treated by a medical practitioner
- Medical Oedema
- Osteoporosis
- Acute Arthritis and Rheumatism
- Nervous and psychotic conditions
- Epilepsy
- Diabetes
- Asthma and Bronchitis
- Kidney infections
- Bell’s Palsy
- Gynaecological infections
- Recent operations
- Cancer
